Johannesen Excels, But Panthers Win
The Derby Panthers overcame a good performance by Lerna shortstop Andy Johannesen to knock off Lerna, 14-10, at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. Johannesen was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The win puts the Panthers at 9-14, while the Lions drop to 12-11.

Dennis Mansel aided the Derby cause with a 2-run single in the top of the first. For the game, the center fielder went 2-6 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

In comments to the Derby Daily, Mansel admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
