Cardinals Prevail, 5-4, Over Kearny High

Montreal and Kearny High duked it out at Loggers Ballpark and the Cardinals came out victorious.
The Montreal Cardinals defeated the Kearny High Cardinals, 5-4, in Pete Rose League action at Loggers Ballpark, with Montreal center fielder J.D. Strong named player of the game. Danny Gordon, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 3-0.
Strong had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from John Harlow, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Cardinals a 5-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Strong.
"It was a solid team effort," said Strong after the game.
The Cardinals bumped their record to 14-6 with this latest triumph.
