Earthquakes Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Earthquakes had to overcome a fine effort from Maple pitcher Will Caron to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Legends Park. Caron went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Lloyd Huggins was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 11 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Nicolas Joubert closed it out for his 3rd save.
Had Juan López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, López hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Earthquakes.
López attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
San Francisco, now 3-5, is off to a slow start.
