Panthers Squelch Islanders Offense in Shutout Win
|
Pleasantville and Grand Island put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Pleasantville Panthers beat the Grand Island Islanders, 4-0, at Stealth Ballpark. The Panthers got a fine performance from first baseman Adam Fisher, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. Pleasantville reliever Melvin Silva was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Marcus Jackowski took the loss.
Sal Castro's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Pleasantville. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Pleasantville leading 1-0, the second baseman reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 2 runs.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Pleasantville manager Bobby Lowenstein. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The Panthers bumped their record to 8-6 with this latest triumph.
