Panthers Lose, 8-3, at Visigoths Stadium
|
It was a fun time at Visigoths Stadium, where the Derby Panthers and Downsview Mustangs tangled.
The Downsview Mustangs racked up a win at Visigoths Stadium, bumping off the Derby Panthers, 8-3. Matt Walker, who started for Downsview, pitched effectively for his team. Walker got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. Walker allowed 3 earned runs.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from second baseman Jesse Higginbotham. For the game, Higginbotham was 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 13th hit of the season gave Downsview a 2-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Higginbotham.
The Panthers fall to 4-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.
