Franklin Rivera put on a hitting clinic today as the Kearny High Cardinals dumped the Grand Island Islanders 27-5 at Loggers Ballpark.

The Kearny High left fielder made Grand Island defenders earn their pay, lashing Grand Island pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Rivera said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Franklin Rivera walked in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Paul Higgins in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
