Lerna got a strong outing from Derek Stumpff as the Lions defeated the Canby Lancers, 6-0, at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Lerna, now 7-4, has played well in the early going.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when second baseman Bryan Brogan hit a triple. The Lions went on to win.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Lerna manager Nick Riddick.
