Fay Helps Park Beat Cardinals
|
College shortstop Brian Fay was a significant contributor in his team's 7-3 triumph over the Kearny High Cardinals. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for College. J.T. Shaw earned the win for College. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. Earning his 1st save of the year was Steve McLean.
Bob Adams had a big 2-run single for the Park in the bottom of the fourth inning. With College trailing 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from John Harlow and stroked the single to left. It was his 3rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Park ahead, 3-2.
In comments to the College Daily News, Adams insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The Park have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 3rd win in 9 games.
