The Maple Marauders did just enough to sneak past the Santa Fe Fuego, 2-1, at The Fire House. Maple pitcher Khurshid Durrani earned player of the game honors. In 7.2 innings, Durrani surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Maple has now won 5 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Maple, had it not been for Jorge Zamora, the three-time All-Star . Zamora contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Maple up, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Maple manager Jesús Alfaro said.
