Bengston Goes Off, But Tigers Win
Topeka West got a terrific game from center fielder Matt Bengston. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Tioga Central, 9-7. Bengston was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Mike Jones earned the win for Tioga Central. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. The save was Ricky Hartman's, his 1st.

The Tigers got a big at-bat from left fielder Ken Laybolt. For the game, Laybolt went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Tioga Central a 3-1 lead.
