McDonald Helps Vampires Beat Mustangs
|
Santa Clara played host to Downsview at the friendly confines of River Otters Ballpark.
Santa Clara catcher Tom McDonald made his presence felt in the 8-6 Vampires triumph over the Downsview Mustangs. McDonald went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Matt Reger earned the save, his 2nd.
McDonald had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch curveball from Lineu Xarro, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Vampires a 8-6 lead. It was the 4th hit of the year for McDonald.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Santa Clara manager Juan Proenza.
Santa Clara is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 6 games.
