Poly Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Carl Albert got a terrific game from right fielder Miguel Santoyo. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Riverside, 8-7. Santoyo was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. B.J. Dyke picked up the save, his 2nd. Riverside, now 2-4, is off to a slow start.
The Poly got a big at-bat from second baseman Cody Gleason. For the game, Gleason was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. In the top of the tenth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Riverside a 8-7 lead.
In comments to the Riverside News, Gleason admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
