Clifton Stars for Cardinals in 24-5 Win
The Montreal Cardinals grabbed a 24-5 win over the Canby Lancers at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds. Montreal left fielder Jim Clifton went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 5 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Montreal reliever Caspar Tamburrino picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jesse Bitar absorbed the loss. The Cardinals raised their record to 3-1.

The Cardinals got a big at-bat from third baseman Jason Gettman. For the game, Gettman was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 4th hit of the season gave Montreal a 2-0 lead.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Gettman, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
