Lions Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Patriots
|
The Lions grabbed a win, 2-1, at Ottawa HS Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Francis Lewis pitcher David Belke. Belke went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. Lerna reliever John Woods picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Marshall McAuley absorbed the loss. Jeff Roe earned the save for Lerna, his 1st of the year.
Andy Johannesen made it 2-1, Lerna, in the top of the eighth when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It was a big at-bat in the Lions win.
"If we keep winning the close games," Johannesen said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
The Lions keep rolling, raising their record to 3-1.
