Ballpark of Villahermosa HS was the site for Pete Rose League action featuring the Canby Lancers and Tioga Central Tigers.

Tioga Central designated hitter Brendan Grimes made his presence felt in the 15-5 Tigers triumph over the Canby Lancers. Grimes hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Sean McCarthy earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 3 earned runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 12 strikeouts.

Ken Laybolt aided the Tioga Central cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first. For the game, the left fielder went 2-5 with a triple, a double, and a walk.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Laybolt said.

The win leaves Tioga Central with a record of 1-1.
