Lancers Walk Off with Win

Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Canby Lancers were eager to watch Bill Goeman square off against Ted Mengel of the visiting Tioga Central Tigers. In the end, the Lancers won the game, 3-2, with Bill Goeman earning player of the game honors.
The Lancers got a big at-bat from center fielder Frank Keddy. For the game, Keddy was 1 for 6 with a double. In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Canby a 3-2 lead.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Goeman.
