The Montreal Royales defeated the Victoria Capitals, 6-5, in CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE action at Eliminators Ballpark, with Montreal right fielder Christopher Cowley named player of the game. Montreal now has a 3-game win streak.
Montreal won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With two outs and Mike Patterson on the mound for Victoria, first baseman Dennis Gillberry hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Royales fans to their feet.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Montreal manager Kevin Haynes.
