Niagara starter Dave Arden had a strong outing against the Victoria Capitals at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-4 win. Rich Neilson converted his 19th save in 20 tries. The Stars bumped their record to 33-22 with this latest triumph.
The Stars got a big at-bat from left fielder Bill Sheppard. For the game, Sheppard went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Niagara a 3-0 lead.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Victoria manager Bill Hilliard.
