Monarchs Score Late, Upend Saints, 7-4
|
London rode a decent outing from starter Ray Batstone to victory over the Trois-Rivieres Saints at Blue Wings Ballpark. The final score was 7-4. London reliever Dave Austen picked up the win to move to 1-1. Avery Diamond suffered the loss. The win boosts the Monarchs to 24-30. The loss puts the Saints at 17-37.
Bruce Michaud made it 3-2, London, in the top of the eighth when he hit a sacrifice fly. It was a big at-bat in the Monarchs win.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Batstone told a London Gazette reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
