Tight Tilt Goes to Legends, 4-3
|
The Niagara Stars got a superb performance from pitcher Arvin Fox, but the Saskatoon Legends still won the game, 4-3. Fox was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 4 runs. Saskatoon reliever Joe Halpenny picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Arvin Fox was saddled with the loss. Joe Winman locked down his 1st save.
Burt Kavanagh, who leads the LBL with a 1.316 OPS, aided the Saskatoon cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a good effort all around," said Kavanagh.
Saskatoon goes to 32-20. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
