Saints Win at Niagara, 3-1
|
The Trois-Rivieres Saints got a stellar performance from pitcher Jerry Lush, who handcuffed the Niagara offense en route to a 3-1 win at Drummondville College Grounds. Lush, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Even with the win, the Saints have a dismal 16-32 record.
Dale Colvin, who is the top prospect in the Saints organization, aided the Trois-Rivieres cause with a 2-run single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Trois-Rivieres manager Jason Raymond said.
