|
Stars left fielder Bill Sheppard put his stamp on his team's 11-7 win over the Kelowna Heat. Sheppard was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for Niagara in the contest. Arvin Fox, the winner, improved to 1-3. He held the Heat to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Rich Neilson saved it for Niagara.
The Stars got a big at-bat from shortstop George Greening. For the game, Greening was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 53rd hit of the season gave Niagara a 2-0 lead.
Greening told a Niagara Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Stars have an impressive 29-18 record.
