Monarchs Get Past Kelowna for 8-7 Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Gérard Lelièvre, the London Monarchs defeated the Kelowna Heat, 8-7. Lelièvre was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Monarchs. Harry Ayotte earned the save, his 8th, for the Monarchs. London, at 19-25, occupies third place in the Lester B. Person League East Division.
Lelièvre had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Rich Boivin, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Monarchs a 8-7 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Lelièvre.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said London manager Chet Hooper.
