6 Straight Wins for Stars
|
Victoria got a terrific game from first baseman Chris Neale. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Niagara, 7-5. Neale was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Niagara reliever Chet Winman, now 1-0. The loser was Jack Hepburn. The first-place Stars have won 6 in a row.
George Greening, who is tied for 7th in the LBL in RBI with 32, chipped in for Niagara with a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Niagara manager Don Cooper.
