Victory Pushes Heat Record to 21-20
|
The Kelowna Heat topped the London Monarchs by the score of 3-1, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Stan Dodds. Dodds went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Heat. Dan Lovell, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held the Monarchs to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Tom Simpson earned the save for Kelowna, his 7th of the year.
Cody Schultz aided the Kelowna cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Dodds.
The Heat bumped their record to 21-20 with this latest triumph.
