Vaillancourt Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Victoria in Walk-Off Win
|
Calgary designated hitter Randy Stackhouse pounded Victoria Capitals pitchers at Ballpark of Chilliwack College, but it was not enough to keep the Outlaws from falling, 9-8. Stackhouse belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 4. Victoria reliever Bill Acheson was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Tom Nichols took the loss. The win puts the Capitals at 17-20, while the Outlaws drop to 21-16.
The Capitals got a big at-bat from right fielder Gideon Vaillancourt. For the game, Vaillancourt was 1 for 5 with a walk. In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 38th hit of the season gave Victoria a 9-8 lead.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Victoria skipper Bill Hilliard.
