Burns Hits 2 home runs in Stars Win
|
The Niagara Stars easily defeated the Montreal Royales, 14-2, at Eliminators Ballpark, with first baseman Bob Burns a main contributor to the win. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for Niagara. Scott Ross, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Royales to 2 earned runs on 2 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Niagara is now 21-16, 4 games up in the Lester B. Person League East Division.
Steve Bernard helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Niagara a 2-0 lead.
"First place," said Stars manager Don Cooper. "This is right where we want to be."
