Capitals Need Extras to Top Monarchs
|
The London Monarchs went down to defeat to Dennis Parry and his Victoria teammates. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Capitals. Bill Acheson, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. Victoria is now 16-18.
Victoria won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Alton Lesage on the mound for London, designated hitter Paul Joseph hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Capitals fans to their feet.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said London skipper Chet Hooper, "and it cost us."
