Capitals Turn Back Trois-Rivieres, 7-6
|
The Victoria Capitals defeated the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 7-6, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Victoria shortstop Bill Bartlatt was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Chris Ploughman picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. The Capitals, at 14-15, sit in last place in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
The Capitals got a big at-bat from third baseman Jim Dixon. For the game, Dixon went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Victoria a 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Victoria manager Bill Hilliard.
