The Kelowna Heat and Victoria Capitals cranked it up at Brantford College Grounds.

The Victoria Capitals topped the Kelowna Heat, 8-5, with youngster John Stoddart playing a key role. Stoddart went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Capitals in the win. Victoria reliever Dave Sonier was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Bill Montgomery took the loss.

Chris Neale, who is rated as the 68th best prospect by BNN, aided the Victoria cause with a 2-run single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman was 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We maximized our offense today," said Victoria skipper Bill Hilliard. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The Capitals, at 12-14, sit in last place in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
