Hatchets Ballpark was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Left-hander Ben Charron mesmerized the London Monarchs while leading the Niagara Stars to a 2-0 victory. Charron went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-2. Corey Rathwell was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Niagara used the timely hitting of John Gibbons to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stars on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Gibbons told the Niagara Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Stars bumped their record to 15-11 with this latest triumph.
