Monarchs Come Up Short at Kelowna
|
The Kelowna Heat eked out a 3-2 win versus the London Monarchs at Brantford College Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Cary Dower, who captured player of the game honors. Dower got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Dower allowed 2 earned runs. Tom Simpson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Eric Leveque, who is tied for 3rd in the LBL in doubles with 4, chipped in for Kelowna with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We were in it," said London manager Chet Hooper. "We just didn't score enough runs."
Kelowna has now won 4 games in a row.
