Saints Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Victoria Capitals got a sterling performance from center fielder Morton Gallant, but the Saints still prevailed, 6-5. Gallant was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ben Evans, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Capitals to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Jerry Lush finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Jim Caron aided the Trois-Rivieres cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Trois-Rivieres manager Jason Raymond.
Trois-Rivieres, now 1-6, is off to a slow start.
