Christopher Cowley was instrumental in his team's 3-2 triumph over the London Monarchs. The right fielder was 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Montreal Royales. Montreal reliever Lucas Bunney was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Harry Ayotte. The loss lowers the London record to 3-4.
Cowley had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 cutter from Harry Ayotte, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Royales a 3-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Cowley.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said London skipper Chet Hooper, "and it cost us."
