Royales Sneak Past Saints, 3-2
|
There was never a dull moment in this extra-length game between the Montreal Royales and the Trois-Rivieres Saints.
Terry Merritt made an impact in the 3-2 Montreal win over Trois-Rivieres. Merritt, who is rated as the 17th best prospect by BNN, went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Montreal reliever Stephen Lau picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Avery Diamond shouldered the loss.
Merritt had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a first pitch cutter from Avery Diamond, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Royales a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Merritt.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Merritt.
Montreal, now 2-3, is off to a slow start.
