Late Rally by Monarchs Secures Win
|
The London Monarchs defeated the Kelowna Heat, 6-5, at Hatchets Ballpark. London right fielder Eli Bryant was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was London reliever Harry Ayotte, now 1-0. The loser was Tom Simpson. London, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Bryant had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-0 fastball from Tom Simpson, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Monarchs a 6-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Bryant.
In postgame comments to the London Gazette, Bryant said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
