Horne Excels, But Stars Win
|
Niagara and Trois-Rivieres duked it out at Drummondville College Grounds and the Stars came out victorious.
The Niagara Stars outlasted Tom Horne and the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 8-6. Horne was impressive in the loss. The Trois-Rivieres right fielder hit 2 home runs. The winner was Niagara reliever Corey Rathwell, now 1-0. The loser was Steven Pinnell.
The Stars got a big at-bat from designated hitter Darren Marsh. For the game, Marsh was 2 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Niagara a 7-6 lead.
In postgame comments to the Niagara Times, Marsh said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Niagara, now 3-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
