The Niagara Stars defeated the Montreal Royales, 11-3, in CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE action at Eliminators Ballpark, with Niagara third baseman Tim Kean named player of the game. Gilbert Beckmann earned the win for Niagara. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Corey Rathwell closed the game out for Niagara, earning his 1st save.

John Makeever's at-bat in the top of the fourth inning was a big one for Niagara. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Niagara leading 3-2, the center fielder reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Kean said.

Niagara, now 2-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
