Balcome, Legends Humble Saints
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Trois-Rivieres Saints were eager to watch Foster Richardson square off against Walton Varner of the visiting Saskatoon Legends. In the end, the Legends won the game, 13-1, with Pearce Balcome earning player of the game honors. Walton Varner picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 7 in 6.1 innings.

Saskatoon used the timely hitting of Eddie Steele to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Legends on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Enjoyed this one," Steele told the Saskatoon News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
