The Volunteers faced a stiff challenge from Iowa State pitcher Justin McCaffrey, but persevered to claim a win at Forney College Grounds. The final score was 5-4. McCaffrey went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Tennessee reliever Mike Meyer picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Joe Stewart shouldered the loss. Tennessee has now won 4 in a row.

The Volunteers got a big at-bat from third baseman Josh Cascio. For the game, Cascio was 1-2 with a home run. In the top of the 11th, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Tennessee a 5-4 lead.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Cascio, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
