Golden Eagles Bang Out 9-7 Win Versus Cal State Fullerton
Getting a good performance from catcher Danny Stepp, the South Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 9-7. Stepp went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI for the Golden Eagles. South Mississippi reliever Kevin Scott picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Keon Ford absorbed the loss. Bob Chamberlain finished to wrap up his 10th save.

John Rose was 2-5 with 2 singles and a walk for South Mississippi. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring walk off Brian Claphan. It was his 11th walk of the season.

In comments to the South Mississippi Observer, Stepp admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."

South Mississippi is now 27-19, while Cal State Fullerton is 18-28.
