Cougars Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
Houston beat Oregon on the strength of starter Jim Shelby's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Houston reliever Clint Vollmer picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ben Waters shouldered the loss. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the Cougars.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Jeremy Gilbertson drew a walk. The Cougars went on to win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Cougars manager Cisco Sánchez, "I like our chances."
