Fans who gathered at Ballpark of Bloomfield College saw a good contest between the Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Clemson beat Ohio State on the strength of starter Joe Schwab's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Schwab, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from first baseman Omar Bernardin. For the game, Bernardin was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Clemson a 2-0 lead.
Ohio State manager Dave Draves said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Clemson is now 19-26, while Ohio State is 26-19.
