Ragin Cajuns Prevail, 6-4, Over Long Beach State
|
The Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 6-4, at Ballpark of Macclenny College. Louisiana-Layfayette designated hitter Bryant Santana was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dave Gaspard got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 5.2 innings. Even with the win, the Ragin Cajuns have a dismal 15-29 record.
Santana had a key at-bat for Louisiana-Layfayette early in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and gave Louisiana-Layfayette an early 2-0 lead.
In postgame comments to the Louisiana-Layfayette Citizen, Santana said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
