Late Rally by Commodores Secures Win
The Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the Michigan Wolverines, 6-5, at Ballpark of Barrow College. Vanderbilt left fielder Matt Strickland was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Vanderbilt reliever Steve Higgins was credited with the win, to go to 6-1. James Arnold took the loss for Michigan. The Commodores bumped their record to 23-21 with this latest triumph.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Vanderbilt second baseman Jay Michael, facing James Arnold, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Commodores the 6-5 win.

"Feels good to get the job done," Strickland said after the game.
