Grant Strokes 5 Hits
|
Ohio State Buckeyes second baseman Andy Grant had a day to remember at Field of the Shield today, ripping apart the South Illinois Salukis and sparking the Buckeyes to a 6-0 victory.
Grant wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Grant told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Andy Grant singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Grant on the season is hitting .327 with 3 home runs. His stats include 14 RBIs and 32 runs scored.
