Multi-HR Day for Randazzo as Cavaliers Overpower Tigers, 12-4
|
The Virginia Cavaliers grabbed a 12-4 win over the Clemson Tigers at Ballpark of Redwood College. Virginia designated hitter Nate Randazzo hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 to earn player of the game honors. Virginia reliever Tony Eagan got the win, raising his record to 2-2. John Tallent was tagged with the loss. The Cavaliers bumped their record to 28-15 with this latest triumph.
The Cavaliers got a big at-bat from third baseman Jared Howard. For the game, Howard was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Virginia a 6-4 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Randazzo. "And not try to do too much."
