Sooners Hold Off Tar Heels, 4-3
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Oklahoma Sooners eventually prevailed at Bruisers Ballpark.
The Sooners faced a stiff challenge from North Carolina pitcher Mike Winter, but persevered to claim a win at Bruisers Ballpark. The final score was 4-3. Winter went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The save was Bobby Phillips's, his 3rd.
The Sooners got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Braiden Reed. For the game, Reed went 1-1. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 9th hit of the season gave Oklahoma a 4-3 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Reed said.
With the win, the Sooners improved to 24-19.
