Beavers Solve Bruins, 6-3
|
The Oregon State Beavers topped the UCLA Bruins, 6-3, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Palisades Ballpark. The player of the game was Oregon State pitcher Bob Cornelsen. Cornelsen picked up the win for Oregon State, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-1. Adam Perkins, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from catcher Jason Campbell. For the game, Campbell was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Oregon State a 4-0 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Cornelsen.
