Wake Forest and Missouri duked it out at Ballpark of Ridge College and the Demon Deacans came out victorious.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacans beat the Missouri Tigers, 9-7, at Ballpark of Ridge College. Jeff Cross was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The 21-year old center fielder was a menace to Missouri all day. The win was Julio Perez's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tom Hiott took the loss for Missouri. The save was Vic Horn's, his 10th.

Cross had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 curveball from Tom Hiott, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Demon Deacans a 8-7 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Cross.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cross. "And not try to do too much."

The Demon Deacans raised their record to 18-23.
